Project Description
MESSAGE LABS
11 Years of exhibitions, shows and events. Modular – reusable – rebranding.
Worldwide exhibition design, specification, management and build.
Around the turn to the Millennium, I (Stuart Hookway) met Jake Coventry and took a brief for a new exhibition build. The company was Message Labs. 16 years later and we still work on projects together. Jake now has his own marketing company Matizmo. www.matizmo.com.
The original Message Labs stand was a reusable construction to fit small, space only sites. It was used for 3 years until Jake dropped ‘the big one’ on me. A new stand design to go anywhere in the world with simultaneous events and a new corporate identity. The brief demanded the construction had to be – Modular, reusable, reconfigurable, changeable graphics, durable and it had to have a 4 year lifespan.
The design needed to look – clean, laboratory like, dependable and ageless.
The outcome was all of those things and the structure more than doubled it’s life expectancy. 9 years later we have only just moved on. The stand design attended 27 events in 6 countries. It was rebranded 5 times to keep up with the evolving corporate message. It filled spaces from 20 up to 100 square metres. It had built in catering, storage and cable management.
This exhibition stand construction has earnt a rest, but the lessons learnt have been kept. Can we design modular reusable exhibitions? Yes we can.
Good design pays for itself in many ways.
